Rare Earth

Located in Flagstaff Arizona, Rare Earth is committed to continuing the strong tradition of earthen construction in the Southwest. Rare Earth partners with Dustin Woodman of Thunder River Enterprises for the forming, installation, and general contracting end of Cast Earth projects. Rare Earth and Thunder River seek and enjoy the active participation of clients in their projects. We seek to utilize techniques and technologies which reduce the impact of building on our natural environment. Building structures which stand the test of time, visually fit in their surrounding environment, and are energy and resource efficient, are our primary building goals.

Rare Earth and Thunder River seek to work with clients eager to incorporate architecturally distinct and energy efficient Cast Earth construction into their building projects. Cast Earth provides the ability to incorporate energy and resource efficient design and construction methods into a wide range of applications. Load bearing 16" or 24" walls, feature walls, earth plasters, floors and landscape wall can all be delivered using our 5 cubic yard mobile mixer.

The owner of Rare Earth Art Babbott, has been integrally involved in Cast Earth development for the last 5 years and is a licensed Cast Earth Affiliate. In addition, Art has been involved in the design and installation of photovoltaic and wind power systems. All preliminary soils testing and Cast Earth mix design are done in house and whenever feasible, Rare Earth seeks to utilize site soils for Cast Earth.
